Cellfire releases beta version of its free coupon application today for Californians who subscribe to Cingular Wireless, country's largest wireless carrier.

Just in time for the holidays, Cellfire's cell phone application
may one day eliminate paper coupons

Santa Clara, Ca. – December 15, 2005 – Moonstorm, a Silicon-Valley based mobile software company, has today released a beta version of Cellfire, its launch product, announced Brent Dusing, cofounder and CEO of Moonstorm.

What is Cellfire and how does it work?

"Cellfire is the first-ever application that people can download to their cell phones to receive coupons to use at their favorite stores, restaurants and entertainment venues," said Dusing. "It's live today and you can download it at cellfire.com."

Since Cellfire is an application that resides on your cell phone on which it stores coupons, it eliminates the need to connect to the Internet every time you use it. "Your cell phone is always with you and coupons on Cellfire are constantly updating and changing, with better, more valuable deals from new retailers coming all the time," says Dusing.

Cellfire offers valuable coupons from a list of local and national retailers within the cell phone user's geographic region and allows the user to access those coupons on their cell phone. When people are interested in checking out their offers, they simply click on their phone's Cellfire icon, scroll through to the coupon of their choice, press "use" and then show the coupon to the cashier for redemption. There is even a "call-in" feature that allows a person to click on a local offer, such as "$3 off large pizza" and the phone will automatically dial the closest participating pizza location at which time the redemption will be given.

Starting today, Californians can go to cellfire.com to download the application and get instant savings at major retailers such as Hollywood Video, The Sharper Image®, Finish Line, SuperCuts, Boston Market, 1-800-flowers.com, and several state-wide or local restaurants such as Red Rock Coffee, North Beach Pizza and Pizz'a Chicago.

Who and how can people use it?

Any subscriber to Cingular Wireless with a compatible phone in the state of California will have the first opportunity to download Cellfire as part of the company's release of its beta version.

Dusing pointed out that the cell phone users who download the application will not ever be buzzed or receive text messages from Cellfire. They will have the choice to click on their phone's Cellfire icon anytime they're out and about or just interested in checking out coupons or discounts at their favorite retailers.

"As media continues to become more intrusive, it was key for us to develop an application that would reside on people's cell phone that they could use by choice."

Moonstorm, which plans a national consumer rollout in early 2006, released its beta version in California due to several factors: One-tenth of the U.S. population resides in California; the state's tech-intensive economy; and the fact that it is the 7th largest economy in the world.

The numbers are staggering for both cell phone use and coupon industry spending

Cell phone subscribers represent more than two-thirds of the U.S. population at more than 200 million. Cellfire has created this application for cell phone users who have clearly demonstrated that they are ready for content they can download to their phones.

In fact, 56 percent of mobile users have browsed the Internet on their phones. Nearly all cell phone users have learned how to download ring tones and games—particularly the youth market.

Seventy five percent of consumers use coupons, and retailers spend $7 billion annually just printing and distributing the offers. However, the paper aspect of coupons is becoming obsolete. This is supported by the fact that a mere 1.5 percent of the 250 billion coupons printed is redeemed at the retailer and that redemption percentage has been declining for years.

Cellfire offers the convenience of "instant" coupons that can't be lost, thrown out or forgotten, because the overwhelming majority of people (95 percent) do not leave home without their cell phones.
