Cellfire Doubles Up on Going Green for National Coupon Month
Paperless Coupon Company Plants Trees to Further Help the Environment
SAN JOSE, Calif. – September 6, 2007 – In celebration of National Coupon Month in September, Cellfire, Inc., today announced a partnership with American Forests to plant one tree for every 5,000 discount offers it distributes to users of its mobile coupon and discount offer service on an ongoing basis. Cellfire plans to plant more than 10,000 trees annually, helping to support American Forest's goal of planting 100 million trees in the United States and abroad by 2020. Cellfire's mobile coupons are environmentally friendly with virtually no carbon footprint.
"Mobile promotions have made a big impact in the marketing industry," said Bonnie Carlson, president of the Promotion Marketing Association (PMA), which sponsors of National Coupon Month. "Mobile coupons are not only great for the environment, but a great way for businesses to efficiently extend their brand to the one thing everyone carries with them — their mobile phone."
Cellfire is putting a stake (or more to the point, a tree) in the ground to demonstrate how mobile coupons and discount offers can help reduce waste and be efficient with the planet's resources.
"Cellfire is one more example of corporations that are doing their part to give back to our planet," said Greg Meyer, director of corporate relations for American Forests. "Mobile coupons are a step in the right direction to decrease the millions of trees destroyed annually for the creation of paper coupons and direct mail offers."
Cellfire is the only nationwide mobile coupon and discount offer service. Cellfire automatically delivers savings directly to consumers via their mobile phones, and provides frequently updated discounts specific to their geographic area. Unlike text-based offers, Cellfire's application-based service enables consumers to easily store, search and use many discounts across multiple merchants and locations. Unlike Internet coupons, no paper is ever required for in-store redemption.
"We are demonstrating our commitment to the environment by not only offering a green alternative to paper coupons, but also through our reforestation efforts," said Brent Dusing, CEO of Cellfire. "Not only is our solution good for business, but it is good for our planet, too. Consumers can now save money and trees at the same time."
Consumers can subscribe to Cellfire's free mobile coupon and discount offer service to receive "paperless" discounts on national and local businesses near them and help plant more trees at Cellfire.com or by texting "tree" to 22888.
